The Sleeping Giant Re-awakens:
By "Every American", USA   (published September 12, 2001)

The media has brought broad coverage of the recent WTC disaster to our living rooms.  We’ve seen our President speak several times to address the people of the United States.  It's time to look squarely and firmly into the camera and address the attackers.

And now a few words for the terrorists:

After the attack on Pearl Harbor, Japan’s Admiral Yamamoto was quoted as having said “We have awakened a sleeping giant and have instilled in him a terrible resolve.”

After sleeping for more than half a century, the giant has once again been awakened.  In those 70 years, it has grown bigger, more powerful, and with far reaching arms that now encircle the entire globe.  Of course, the giant we speak of is “America,” and it is indeed instilled with a more terrible resolve.  It will identify the vicious and cowardly people that planned the attacks, locate them, and finally eliminate them. There is no place to hide. It will probably takes years or decades, but America will never stop nor forget its duty to get you.

At first glance it may appear that you have succeeded in your efforts.  In reality you have failed because in our land once filled with individual differences, we have now come together and set aside our differences to fight a common cause.  You have created unity of the American people with our government, bonded Democrats with Republicans and broken racial barriers, so that we can work together and defeat your evil cause.  You have brought together the rich and poor, the young and old.  You have unified religious beliefs, and strengthened us morally.  For the first time, you have united America with the world against you.  Thousands of America’s young innocent children and grandchildren have lost a Mom, Dad, Grandmother, or Grandfather, and thus guaranteed generations of bigger, more angered, and more powerful giants to come your way.

A few may have been frightened, but Americans are fearless standing together. A small portion of America and its spirit may have been destroyed, but the people are invincible as one. Their hearts are strong and cannot be broken.  The giant has stumbled, yet still stands firmly on both feet.  It has shed tears and blood, yet the wounds have been patched and are beginning to heal.  You cannot defeat America. In the end when you and your supporters are long dead and gone, the great American giant will still be standing proud.

You and your supporters don’t have the mental capacity to understand the immorality of your actions or to know that you cannot hide with your sins remaining un-punished.  To the entire civilized world, you are viewed as ignorant barbaric animals when you celebrate in the streets.  It only serves to further build the strength and determination of the giant, helping it to gain allies and justify its actions in seeking you out and destroying you.

You have done your evil deed, but the giant has survived, has awakened and is very angry.  Now it is your turn to run for cover and live in fear… because the American giant is coming!  By the time you see the giant coming, there will be no time to respond.  You may not recognize it in advance because it can take any form, its skin may be any color, and it will speak all languages.  It may appear in human form with clothing of red, white, and blue; or it may bear naked wings of strong cold steel.  It has great speed and agility, the strength and endurance of an elephant with the stubbornness and determination of a donkey.  Like the eagle that represents it; the giant can see you from high above and may suddenly dive from the sky to attack its prey.  It may come from the ocean or from land.  You will not know when, where, or how it may appear.  The only thing that is certain is it will come.

Beware, for the giant will not sleep again until its “terrible resolve” has been fulfilled!
